Pathway Welcomes Launch of the Office for the Impact Economy
Pathway is Pleased to Welcome the Government’s Launching of the Office for the Impact Economy
Office for the Impact Economy Unveiled
Pathway Fund welcomes the Government’s recent announcing of the new Office for the Impact Economy, a significant step toward unlocking the full potential of BEM-led impact capital, to support national renewal, catalyse mission-driven growth, and strengthen BEM communities, across the UK.
Led by the Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister and based in the Cabinet Office, the new Office will serve as a central hub for investors, philanthropists, businesses, and government to collaborate more effectively.
By streamlining access to funding, the Office will help ensure that resources reach the communities that need them most - at the right time and in an impact-driven manner.
Realising the Full Potential of the Impact Economy
The UK’s impact economy is already valued at £106 billion, yet its capacity to deliver transformative change - particularly for BEM communities - remains underutilised.
The creation of this Office marks a pivotal moment in recognising and scaling the role of social investment in national renewal. It will:
Provide a single point of contact for those seeking to contribute to community-led change;
Facilitate partnerships that align private capital with public priorities; and
Enable more effective deployment of funding to improve lives across the country.
This initiative builds on the recommendations of the Social Impact Investment Advisory Group (SIIAG) and complements the Government’s existing commitments, including the £500 million Better Futures Fund, which aims to support up to 200,000 children and families over the next decade.
A Shared Commitment to Inclusive Growth For Our Communities
The announcement follows the recent Regional Investment Summit, where the Chancellor confirmed a £2 billion impact investment commitment from Legal & General - demonstrating the scale of private capital ready to be mobilised for social good. This funding will support vital projects such as affordable housing, regeneration, infrastructure, and innovation hubs.
Pathway Fund is particularly pleased to see the communitarian focus, in this announcement - and will be working to make sure that it benefits BEM communities, in turn.
Pathway Fund’s Role
With the launch of the new Office coming aligning with the releasing of Pathway Fund’s new 2026 - 2029 strategy, as well as our regional listening papers, we look forward to working in partnership with government, as we scale our impact - and see the opportunities offered to BEM communities, by this new Office, realised.
At Pathway Fund, we believe in the power of collaborative investment to drive systemic change. We are committed to partnerships. And we are committed to working alongside the new Office, to ensure that capital is directed where it can do the most good - supporting resilient communities, inclusive growth, and long-term opportunity for BEM communities.
