Pathway Publishes Regional Listening Reports
Pathway is delighted to be able to publish the ten regional listening papers, coming from our regional listening events, held between April and July of 2025, across the country.
Listening Series Papers – Now Available
Pathway Fund is delighted to announce the release of our regional listening event papers, which document the insights, challenges, and opportunities shared by stakeholders across the country.
These papers come following Pathway Fund’s regional listening series, which saw us visit each of the established combined authority regions, to better understand the nature of the BEM-led social economies, within.
These papers will help to inform Pathway’s work - though we look forward to working with our partners as we learn more about all the BEM-led social economy, within each, has to offer!
About the Papers
Each paper captures the lived experiences of local communities, highlighting barriers to racial equity, the potential for intermediary organisational (IMO) development, and the role of institutional partners.
The findings are intended to inform funders, policymakers, and ecosystem builders committed to advancing racially equitable investment.
Regions Visited
The following ten regions were visited, supported by our fantastic partners, in an extensive engagement process:
Nottingham – East Midlands (Himmah)
Sheffield – South Yorkshire (Key Fund)
Bristol – South West (BSWN)
Bradford – West Yorkshire (Impact Hub Yorkshire)
Accrington & Burnley – Lancashire (Inclusive North)
Birmingham – West Midlands (GBCC Black Business Collective)
Liverpool – Liverpool City Region (BlaST)
Manchester – Greater Manchester (NatWest S&CC)
Newcastle – North East (Pathway-led)
London – Greater London (Pathway-led)
Each paper details the key features of each region, the brilliant work being undertaken with them, and some recommendations on the ways in which key institutions can work to see them scaled.
Pathway Fund remains alive to the fact that we saw only a snapshot of each region. Crucially, the work really begins now. We’re now committed continually engaging with these regions, to ensure that the organisations within, grow in the way that they so deserve.

We encourage stakeholders to read, share, and reflect on the findings as we work together to build a more inclusive and resilient social economy.
Thank you to all who have made this possible. We’re incredibly grateful. The partners, listed above, do so much to drive change in their ecosystems - and we can’t wait to further work with them, in the near future.
