Statement from Pathway Fund – International Events – June 2025
Asher Craig, Chief Executive Officer of Pathway Fund, has issued a statement of solidarity, to Pathway Fund’s communities, given the recent developments, being witnessed and experienced, worldwide.
Given the recent unrest being seen across both Northern Ireland and the United States of America (U.S.A), Pathway Fund’s Chief Executive Officer, Asher Craig, has made the following statement:
I am writing during a time of profound unrest, as we witness targeted, racially motivated violence and tension affecting communities both in Northern Ireland and across the United States.
As Chief Executive Officer of Pathway Fund, I want to make it unequivocally clear: we stand in solidarity with our communities, at home and abroad.
In Northern Ireland, we have seen Black and Ethnically Minoritised individuals attacked – some now too fearful to return home. In the U.S., while we have seen inspiring protests and widespread support in cities such as Los Angeles and beyond, we are also witnessing unacceptable actions by central authorities against those same communities. It is a painful reminder of how much still needs to change.
Pathway Fund is a social impact investment wholesaler. Our mission is to empower and amplify Black and Ethnically Minoritised communities across the UK. We believe every community must be heard, respected, and actively included in the advancement of inclusive economic growth. And, above all, they must be protected from discrimination and persecution in all its forms.
We therefore firmly condemn the violence, the unrest, and the targeting of our people – wherever it occurs. Our commitment is to act, not just observe. In this moment of global challenge, we will continue to catalyse the voices, potential, and leadership of those too often marginalised.
Last year, we wrote an open letter to the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer MP, raising concerns about the unacceptable attacks on our way of life across the UK. This year, we are engaging every combined authority and region to understand how those affected can be better supported, empowered, and involved. This work is deeply personal to me, given my own experience as Deputy Mayor of Bristol.
We will carry this insight forward, ensuring the voices of our communities are not just heard – but are central to the national conversation. Pathway Fund will continue to lead from the front, advocate with strength, and offer a platform for those impacted by these events.
We are here for you. If you have been affected or wish to speak with us, please reach out at impact@pathwayfund.org.uk
In solidarity and strength,
Stay safe.
Asher Craig.
